Great British Bake Off bets halted by Ladbrokes

Ladbrokes has actually halted betting on BBC reveal the Great British Bake Off after a flurry of wagers sparked worries the winner's name may have been dripped.

"A run of bets" was placed for one participant, lots of at stores in the Ipswich location, the yohaig code bookie said.
It is not understood which baker prompted the flurry or whether any participants have connections with the Suffolk town.
The very first episode of the popular amateur baking contest aired on BBC One Wednesday evening.
It is the yohaig code 6th series of the show, which challenges 12 hopefuls to impress judges Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood.
Every week the amateur bakers are anticipated to take on a baking difficulty, with minimal directions, and present a "signature dish".
'Soggy bottom'
The bookie said a flurry of bets came in for among the 12 candidates whose chances began at 12/1 and were lowered to 6/1, 3/1 and then evens.
"We provided rates on Monday and, almost before the ink was dry, an uncommon number of punters were in a rush to back only one candidate," David Williams of Ladbrokes stated.

"On Tuesday and Wednesday it was more of the same one-way traffic. That sufficed to set our alarm bells ringing and, as a precaution, we suspended our wagering.
"Hopefully, we'll return up with revised chances quicker rather than later, but we didn't want to get captured with our pants pulled down and a soggy bottom, so we've decided to kick back up until we are reassured that Bake Off hasn't gone off already.

"When you see a run of bets like this promotion code for one candidate at the cost of everyone else that can be an indication to suspend wagering for a bit to examine the circumstance," he added.
Several of the bets positioned were the optimum the bookie would take for wagers made on the show's result, and 90% were put on one participant.
The suspension would not affect bets currently placed, the business stated.

The first entrant to be knocked out of the competitors on Wednesday evening was Stuart Henshall from Surrey.
The 11 remaining contestants are from Berkshire, Lancashire, Cambridgeshire, London, West Yorkshire, Manchester, Essex, Swansea and two from Perthshire.
